Electricity is a critical component to nearly every activity, whether at home or on the job. We rarely consider electricity to be a hazard with all the technology available today, but it can be. How Electricity Works
Electricity is a type of energy made up of electrons which build up in one place and/or move to another. When the electrons stay in place we call it static electricity, and when it moves it is current electricity. This is the most common type of electricity and is what powers your home and the tools you use at work.
Ground Fault Protection
When working in construction, or changing landscapes, tools and wires can quickly become compromised, with frayed wires, dings and dents. All of these can be potential electrical hazards. This is why it is important to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, which would "interrupt" an electric charge and stop it before it caused an electric shock.
Knowing how electricity can be dangerous and what hazards to look out for will go a long way in keeping you safe. Different types of electricity, from power-lines to outlets, have different types of hazards. To work safely, you must understand the flow of electricity and the amount your tools or lines can handle.
