Workplace hazards are everywhere, yet the ones we most often miss are right underneath us. The smallest item can cause a slip, and even a small slip can cause serious pain. Big spills and hazards are usually marked and easy to identify, but small slips often go unnoticed and unlabeled, making them dangerous. This course will cover the following learning objectives:
Slips happen due to a loss of friction. When your feet can't properly grip, they slip. Water on the floor, even a little bit, can cause you to slip. These types of slips are 100% avoidable with proper footwear, protective matting, and workplace awareness.
Trips happen from a lack of awareness and not paying attention to your environment. Misplaced objects, fallen pens, even the simplest item out of place can cause a trip. Moving objects and other people can also cause trips when one is not paying attention.
Slips, trips and falls are preventable through workplace safety and everyone making an effort to keep the workplace clean and free of obstacles. This is especially true of walkways and common areas.
